Who said the Victorians are dead?

I spent the day in Gettysburg today with my sister. I got a lot of good pictures, but my favorite ones were taken by this amazing fence ^-^ *sighs* Lots of fun. I also got the most beautiful cameo necklace at this adorable little shop! I'm in love with it.
The best part was when we got home and the sky was purple, just like The Birthday Massacre album art :]

I also gave the blog a new look. Enjoy!

It's Halloween season at the Asylum!

Greetings!
Autumn begins on Monday 9/22. Being a Wiccan, I'm always excited for the cooler months since the line between the living and the dead is quite thin. Perfect for Magick! I'm simply ecstatic to cast a circle on Monday night...
Did you know that Halloween is a Wiccan holiday? I'm jumping out of my skin since this is the first time I'll experience Hallows Eve as a Pagan. But besides incense and portals, Halloween means COSTUMES! I love an excuse to play dress up...
The lovely dresses you see above are from the website buycostumes.com. Who doesn't want to be a gothic Vampira, a masquerade queen, or a zombie prom queen?
Hot Topic also has a great Halloween shop ^_^ So check it out!

"A bit 'o this and that"

This post has absolutely no point.
It's just some random shit thrown together.

Okay, well first off I found the pic above on Ployvore (made by the user Sallyfrediani) . There's loads of other gothic lolita sets on there but this was one of my favorites.

Second Emilie Autumn is on tour :] (not that I'm allowed to go or anything)

And finally I stumbled upon this great website for gothic Victorian jewlery: http://www.decarabia.co.uk/
ENJOY! (some merch pictured at the top)

Emilie Autumn - My new icon

Remember Mrs. Lovett from Sweeney todd? She was the baker who concocted the meat pies and was eventually shoved into the fiery oven by Sweeney himself. Well give her a violin and pink-ish/red hair and you would get Emilie Autumn. She is a 28 singer/songwriter/poet that thrives under the genre "victoriandustrial". I just want to mention that as I am typing this, I'm trying really hard not to cry at her amazingness. Really. I am going to find my inner lesbian, marry her, and spend the rest of my life staring at her because she is just that fucking amazing.
Anyways her band "Emilie Autumn and the Bloody Crumpets" are fucking amazing and she has also played violin for Courtney Love. Emilie also has a clothing and textile company called Willowtech house.
Her website is simply smashing! She even addresses her fans as "Dear Muffins". There you can also see a lot of her pictures. I had quite a difficult time picking just picking 3 pictures (see above). Her fashions are infectious and addictive...they're like everything I know, yet they're like nothing I've seen before. I guess what I'm trying to say is that her style truly is Victorian, Gothic, and Lolita blended into one, and is therefore the epitome of this blog and why I fucking live.
I think I will leave you all today with this:
"Come join us in our padded cells as we suffer together and enjoy victoriandustrial tea parties. Let us play dress up, write poems on the walls and scream LIAR from the rooftops. Let the record show.. you have entered the Asylum and there is no escaping..."

Fashion Icon - KANA

Kana is a Japanese pop/rock singer that has some pretty sick style. Before her career in music, she was a model for Gothic & Lolia Bible magazine. I first heard her music in a scene hair video on You Tube. The song is called "Hebi-Ichigo" and I suggest you give it a listen. Her voice is kind of an acquired taste, but I pinky swear it's worth listening to ^__^

Hello there!!

Welcome to A touch of poison...
Lace, gloves, pendants, and grace (all in black, of course!)
Here you will find fashion from the late Victorian era to the clothing of today.

Victorian - This era lasted all of queen Victoria's reign. After the queen's husband died in the 1860s, Victoria followed the mourning customs: black crepe fabric, veils, and jet jewelry.

Goth
- Gothic clothing is generally dark and industrial. Spikes, chokers, corsets, etc are all considered goth. They can be considered somewhat sexual since they are related to fetish and bondage clothing. Most modern goths focus on their overall appearance, not just their clothes. Black hair/nails and piercings are all common with them.

Lolita
- Most commonly found in Japan, Lolita clothing (in my opinion ^__^) is the most exciting kind of fashion. The young women that wear it always look totally incredible. There is NOTHING uncreative about lolita style!! It's influenced by Victorian childrens clothes and Japanese animee, leaving the wearer looking like a kickass manga character :)

And when the three are fusioned together, you get something pretty incredible and that's why I'm here to tell you guys all about it ^__^
